Overview
OPA! is a 2-player card game that requires strategy, quick thinking, and a bit of luck. The objective of the game is to get rid of all your cards before your opponent does. The game uses a deck of 40 cards, consisting of 0-9 cards in four different suits: Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. There are also 16 special cards in the deck that can be used to help you get ahead.

Setup ​

​To begin, deal 8 cards to each player. The remaining cards should be placed face down in a draw pile, and the top card from the draw pile should be placed face up to start a discard pile.
If the first card on the discard pile is a special card, then continue to set cards on the discard pile until a colored card is set - set all special cards back into the deck.

 

Gameplay

During a player's turn, they must play a card that matches either the suit or rank of the card on the top of the discard pile. For example, if the top card is a Red 5, the player can play any Red card or any 5 card. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If the drawn card can be played, the player can immediately play it. If not, the player's turn ends.

Special Cards

There are five types of special cards in OPA!: "Draw 2", "Wild", "Wild Draw 2", "Crown", "Discard all" & "Discard all wild. Here's how they work:
WILD
A wild card can be played on any colored card.
Once played the player MUST choose a color. The chosen color will be selected as the leading cards color.
Draw 2
When played, the next player must draw two cards from the draw pile and skip their turn. This card can only be played by matching the leading color suit.
+2 cards may be stacked on top of each other, watch out!
WILD +2 (switch to any color):
Functions the same as the +2 card, but lets the player choose the leading card's color.
Crown
The Crown Card can be played on any card and will also stop the current '+2' stack.
Once played, the player may receive another turn to play ANY card.
Discard all
When played, all cards of a specific color will be set on the discard pile.
WILD Discard all
The player chooses the leading card color.
All cards of the selected color will be set on the discard pile.
Winner
Winner

The first player who gets rid of all their cards. The winner is the player with no cards left in their hand.
